"The Name Above All Names: Returning to the God of the Bible in Indonesia"

In the heart of Indonesia—the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation—millions of Christians open their Bibles daily and read about the Creator, the Redeemer, the One True God. But they read His name as “Allah.”

For generations, Indonesian Christians have used the term "Allah" in their Bibles, hymns, and prayers. Many never questioned it. They assumed, as they were taught, that "Allah" is simply the Indonesian word for "God." But in recent years, a growing number of believers have begun asking hard questions:
 Is the God of the Bible the same as the god of the Qur’an?
 Does language shape theology?
 Does it matter what we call God in our worship?
 Could we be unintentionally honoring a different deity?

In such an atmosphere, the Church must return to biblical foundations and ask: Are we still proclaiming the name above all names? Are we remaining faithful to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—revealed fully in Jesus Christ?
